XP

XP is pretty much like the 'experience' in other games. You earn it through doing actions in the game. Once earned, you can use it to buy skills for your character as long as you have spare Skill Points. XP gained by doing an action can only be used to purchase the skill used in that action. For example, XP gained in combat can not be used to purchase a level in weaving. Once 'spent', the XP are gone forever, and can not be regained even if the skill is dropped.

You may not build up infinite XP, as there will be a max limit on what you can earn. The ratio is yet to be determined, but an example would be 50% of all the XP it would take to buy all the skills in Cooking. This is to deter players from changing their entire character class at once.

For the Roleplayers out there that are gouging their eyes out and chewing on the keyboard after reading that, we do have an explanation. XP can be thought of as a gift from the gods. Player characters are the favored people of the gods, and are thus subject to special abilities. One of those is the ability to instantly learn any skill through this earned blessing. We know it is not a bulletproof idea, but figure it is better than grinding for hours and hours to get those skills, as would be more 'realistic'.
