Skill Points

Each player will be allotted a certain number of Skill Points for assigning skills to their character. We have not yet determined how many this will be, but every character will have the same exact number, and have them from the start of the game.

You use these skill points along with XP to 'purchase' skills in the skill trees. Each skill will cost a certain number of Skill Points. Since you only have a predetermined number of Skill Points, you can only assign so many skills to your character. Even with this limit, you will be able to make your character a Master in several skillsets. This allows players to create their own classes while not allowing them to 'max out' in every skillset.

Skill Points, unlike XP, can never be lost. If you are out of points to spend but want to go up to the next level in Baking, you can reclaim the Skill Points used elsewhere, like on Fishing. However, doing this, you lose the skill that you reclaimed the points on. So if you were on Level 4 Fishing skill and dropped to 3 to reclaim 5 Skill Points to increase Baking from 2 to 3, you will no longer have access to the level 4 Fishing abilities. This will allow players to gradually change their characters' abilities.

It is a lot like trying to figure out which items you want in your space-limited inventory. Sometimes you just have to drop something to fit in that new sweet item you just found.
