What does the Settings Department do, exactly?

The Settings Department writes down everything that has happened, might’ve happened, is happening, or may happen in the future in Ura. Every NPC character will have had their personality, appearance, dialogue and background created by the Settings Department. Every creature, tree, resource, city, landmark, etc.. will have been created by the Settings Department. Essentially, we are the first step in a long process of getting something in-game. To generalize the process: We write it down, 2D draws it, and 3D makes it and places it in-game.

Settings is also responsible for the creation of quests and events. Obviously, when in Ura, players will meet people who may ask for favors of varying difficulty and length. Every dialogue option must be planned out for implementation by the Code Department. Aside from NPC quests, we will have GM (or DM) events that will be tons of fun. Some of these events will be lighter and simple, whereas others could literally change the course of history. Regardless of the complexity, Settings will be responsible for the creation of these events, all possible outcomes, and all other factors that play into such complex interactions.

What are the requirements to become a Settings Contributor/Developer?

Whether your aim is to become a Contributor or a full-time Developer, to be involved with the Settings Department, you MUST love to write. There’s simply no way around it. In addition to that, you need to set aside enough time to allow yourself to complete the projects you wish to complete. The key here is to not get too ambitious and bite off more than you can chew. Start off small and then see how you feel after your first assignment.

Requirements:

A contributor is only expected to submit work as often as they feel appropriate. Developers, on the other hand, will be submitting substantially more than contributors. Luckily, both Developers and Contributors will adhere to the same format for organizational purposes:

• File type must be .rtf

This is to ensure easy file sharing between various word processors.

• Appropriate title of document

For organization of files and ease of access

• Your name on the document

To give you credit and for contact purposes

• Must fit in with existing settings

Do your research!!!! We simply will not be able to accept submissions that contradict existing Settings, so save yourself some time and stay up-to-date with the Settings. If you have any questions feel free to ask any Settings Dev for answers.

Is there an age requirement to work for Trinity Reign?

We do not currently have an age requirement for Trinity Reign. What we do have, however, is a maturity requirement. You should be able to handle yourself in a mature manner, and be able to take criticism in stride. There will most likely be changes to the work you submit, and this shouldn’t be taken personally.

I would like to be a contributor/developer, where do I start?

Great! First off, you’re going to want to contact a Developer, if possible, Easton. The most efficient way of doing this would be to visit application page and fill out the appropriate information there. That’ll send an email directly to Easton where he can respond promptly. The next step would be to hop on IRC. Our channel is #trinityreign on freenode. If you don’t have an IRC client, you can also go to IRC page to connect through your browser. That is where most of the development happens, and it will also be where you can talk directly with the Devs and discuss what you’d like to work on and all that good stuff. Most applicants will be given a simple initial assignment just to give us a feel for your writing style, among other things.
